A short story about us

Welcome to our idea of heaven

We are a family with Belgian and South African roots and have traded our fast-paced Belgian city life for the serenity of the French Pyrenees, where we’re knee-deep (literally, sometimes) in transforming an old farmhouse into a self-sufficient paradise.

Our project is halfway to becoming a fully functional homestead, complete with a mushroom farm and language school, because... well why not?

We’re a family of four adventurers—a 6-year-old who rules the roost, a fearless 15-year-old, and a pair of parents born in an era when music and hairstyles were kitsch.

Add 2 dogs who are living their best lazy lives in the southern sun, four wacky chickens, a juvenile rooster, and two farm cats.

After six years of studying and experimenting with mushroom growing, we’ve become professional mushroom farmers. Here, our organic mushrooms thrive in the crisp mountain air.

Our journey from city dwellers to homesteaders has been full of learning, slipping and falling over, get up and slipping again until we acquired our steady mountain legs .

We’re eager to share our passion for mushrooms, a thing or two we have learnt on our journey through the winding ways of life , and most of all to share the beauty of this magical place.
